Sarif and the grave of Maymunah

A stop on the old road north of Makkah where the Prophet ﷺ married Maymunah bint al-Harith, and where she is buried.

History and Seerah

Aisha said that on the Farewell Hajj they stopped at Sarif, where the Prophet ﷺ told those without sacrificial animals they could make it an Umrah, and where she began her period and was told to carry on with her Hajj (Bukhari 1560). Maymunah, the last woman he married, married him at Sarif on the Umrah of 7 AH, and was buried there when she died.

Visitor tips

Beside the old Madinah road at al-Nawwariyah. Visit as Muslims visit graves: greet the dead and make du'a for them, without touching or rubbing anything.
