Masjid al-Areesh, Badr
Seerah journeysMosque
Marks the shelter from which the Prophet ﷺ directed the Battle of Badr and pleaded with Allah for victory.
History and Seerah
On the day of Badr, 2 AH, the Prophet ﷺ stood in a tent praying: "O Allah, I ask You to fulfil Your covenant and promise; O Allah, if You will, You will not be worshipped after today." Abu Bakr took his hand and said, "Enough, O Messenger of Allah." He came out in his armour reciting: "The multitude will be routed and will turn their backs" (Bukhari 2915, Quran 54:45). The mosque stands where the shelter is said to have been.
The event is authentic; this exact spot is a local tradition, not a certain one.
