Khaybar and its forts

Seerah journeysHistorical

The oasis about 150 km north of Madinah whose forts the Muslims took in 7 AH; the fort of al-Qamus still stands.

History and Seerah

Anas said the Muslims prayed Fajr near Khaybar in the dark, then the Prophet ﷺ rode into its lanes and, entering the town, said three times: "Allahu Akbar! Khaybar is ruined. When we come to a people's square, evil is the morning of those who were warned" (Bukhari 371). After the conquest he married Safiyyah bint Huyayy, taken captive there.

Visitor tips

A long day trip from Madinah. The forts are archaeological sites; climbing them may be closed, so follow the signs.
