Masjid al-Rayah (Makkah)

A historic mosque in the Al-Jowdariyyah area of Makkah where the Prophet ﷺ ordered his banner to be planted on the day of the Conquest of Makkah (8 AH).

History and Seerah

On the morning of the Conquest of Makkah (Fath Makkah) in the 8th year of the Hijrah, the Prophet ﷺ entered the city with his armies entering from distinct routes. He instructed his standard-bearer az-Zubayr ibn al-Awwam (RA) to plant his banner here at Al-Hajun, where the Prophet ﷺ later pitched his dome and prayed.
